The US capital company Intel will invest $ 350 million over the next three years to restart manufacturing operations in the assembly and testing areas in Costa Rica, after the closure of its manufacturing plant at the end of 2014.

The company's new operation will involve the hiring of 200 people in areas such as engineering and technicians in electronics, electromechanics and the like. The opening of this division in the country will take place in the second half of 2021, according to the company in a press release.

Ileana Rojas, general manager of Intel Costa Rica, explained in a statement that the company continually evaluates its operations around the world to ensure that they have adequate capacity to meet global demand.

"We will begin assembly and testing operations in Costa Rica in order to expand our capacity and continue to meet the needs of our customers," said the chief.

Rojas emphasized that the advantages of Costa Rica to resume manufacturing operations are due to the infrastructure that already exists, the talent, the free zone regime and the legal certainty of the country.
