Honduras and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) presented the «Digital Checkup» platform, a tool that will allow micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the coronavirus to carry out a diagnosis of their digital maturity and advance in their process of digitization.

The platform will be executed by the National Service for Entrepreneurship and Small Businesses of Honduras (Senprende) and is supported by the Fundación País Digital de Chile, the IDB press office in Tegucigalpa said.

"Checking Digital will help direct companies to the appropriate support services and facilitate the measurement of the impact of services on business performance," said the IDB representative in Honduras, Eduardo Almeida.

He congratulated Senprende for "advancing in the digital transformation, an issue that takes on even more relevance in the current context" of the covid-19 pandemic.

The new platform will make it possible to measure the level of digitization of MSMEs, in order to identify their strengths, weaknesses and opportunities before starting a process of technological transformation, which includes a cultural and strategic change in the company to make the most of it. the technology.

In addition, carry out complete reports on the state of technology adoption and digital skills of micro, small and medium-sized companies, and prepare personalized recommendations for these companies to increase their level of technology, according to the information.

The director of Senprende, Luis Colindres, assured that the Digital Checking platform will allow any MSME to know their "level of digital maturity and obtain recommendations to improve their technological adoption and digital skills."

He also pointed out that the tool will allow to have "a historical record of the digital growth of micro and small businesses, by allowing the check to be carried out every three months and leaving it recorded in a results comparison menu."

SMEs contribute 34% to GDP and generate 74% of jobs in Honduras, that is, they offer jobs to more than 900,000 people in the country, according to official figures.
