The new 2021 is a year of challenges and opportunities. This is how Procolombia sees it, the agency that promotes foreign investment in the country and trusts that the sectors identified as investment "milestones" are construction and tourism, among others.
The first is a great catalyst for economic activity and employment in Colombia, it generates production chains and demand for construction materials, in this it is expected a growth of 8.6% and the development of more than 195,500 new homes.
2021 will be decisive in the reactivation of tourism, under the biosafety protocols the sector expects an increase in the flow of national and international travelers, given a greater opening of destinations and the generation of confidence in consumers, through the implementation of measures of biosecurity and check-in certification.
This, added to the arrival of hotel projects from international chains that will continue to promote the growth and boom of tourist activity, said the president of the entity, Flavia Santoro.
Agriculture is another promising sector that is advancing with a sustained growth of its exports and continues to be an engine for attracting investment.
During this Government, ProColombia has accompanied the arrival of 55 projects with businesses for more than US $ 950 million, and according to investors, they estimate to generate more than 12,000 jobs. Seventeen of these initiatives arrived in 2020.
Renewable energy is another sector that represents the arrival of sustainable projects, with great contributions to competitiveness and employment in the country and has a great opportunity for foreign investment.
The goal of the National Government is to reach 2,800MW of renewable energy generation in 2022, said Mrs. Santoro.
